In February, Bill was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He underwent intensive chemotherapy with the hopes to continue touring once his health picked up. There were talks of a Geto Boys reunion tour that fell apart just before it was to kick off. Bushwick Bill wanted to do a tour of his own called “Phuck Cancer” and had planned to donate a portion of the proceeds to those who were also battling pancreatic cancer.

Bill was scheduled to perform the night before his passing. His absence from the show sparked premature rumors about his death. Bill, whose real name is Richard Shaw, spent his final moments in the presence of friends and family.

According to his son Javon, Bushwick Bill’s final words were, “I will love you forever.” He was 52-years-old.

Keep Bushwick Bill’s family and friends lifted in prayer. A public memorial is in the works, we’ll keep you updated.
