By now you’ve probably guessed that I love ART. And it still amazes me that literally everywhere in Detroit you can see some. But this time I headed to an actual place to see an exhibit. You guys ever heard of Red Bull House of Art in Eastern Market? No? Ok, well that’s what I’m hear for. To show you those places you may have missed! Alright back to the exhibit….
I’d been invited to opening weekend but was too sick to go that Friday, but I SWORE I would go back and check it out. So glad I did.
The moment you walk into the area, you see a big ole neon sign that says ‘ B*tch don’t touch my hair’. And it only got better from there. I won’t give it all away but let’s just say you will see a wall of BLACK WOMEN’S HAIR that will blow your mind. While you’re there, you may see one of the actual artists there. (Shout out to Patrick!) So if you have a little time and are looking for something new and different to do you should check out the artists works there..(Miatta Kawinzi, Patrick Quarm, and Tiff Massey who is a local artist.)
The gallery is located at 1551 Winder St. and open Thursday – Sunday from 11am – 4pm. It runs through June 2nd so you have a bit of time.
