Without a doubt I can tell you that Detroit is my favorite city I’ve ever lived in. That’s right I said it. Sorry Miami and LA. You just can’t compare to the SOUL of this city. I’ve been documenting my adventures in the city on IG but I thought I might dive a bit deeper in my blog.
Ok so, let me get this out of the way so it never comes up again. Before I moved to this city I didn’t think much of it. That is, I didn’t think I would ever live in a city so cold, so bankrupt, so blah blah blah all the rest of the bad stuff people think about this place. Man was I wrong. So wrong.
Now, I’ll admit. This winter (however mild you Michiganders say it was) quite literally kicked my ass. But we’ll talk about that depression and 20 lbs I gained this winter next time, cause I gotta get back to how LIT this city is.
Today I visited the Detroit Shipping Company. Which is a group of shipping containers with a food court with lots of great food options (tacos, Japanese, and Caribbean too). When I ventured upstairs and found a spot that makes their own ice cream in front of you I knew I had died and gone to heaven. And if you have listened to me at any point during these 9 months you would know that yo girl LOVES TO EAT.
But check it, in the middle of this cool vibe of people who came together either from work or just to hang with some friends….I looked to the side and guess what I saw? ART GALLERY. Detroit has so much ART. It’s also one of my favorite things about this city. You can find art ANYWHERE in this city. All in all, the shipping company was a great vibe with a lot of space to hang either as a group or alone. I can only imagine what the vibes will be this summer but I’m guessing pretty gooood.
