Actor, singer and Empire star, Jussie Smollett was in involved in an alleged homophobic attack in Chicago late Monday night/early Tuesday.

According to TMZ Smollett was attacked by two white men late Monday around 2AM. He had just arrived to Chicago from New York and was headed to a nearby Subway. Two men, wearing ski masks, walked up to Smollett and yelled, “Aren’t you that f***ot ‘Empire’ n*****?”

Next, the two men attacked Jussie severely injuring his ribs. They also tied a rope around his neck, poured bleach on him and  yelled, “This is MAGA country.”

After the attack Jussie was taken to Northwestern Memorial where he was treated for his imjuries and released late Tuesday morning.

Sources say that Chicago PD are investigating the incident as battery and are treating this as a possible hate crime.
