The Golden State Warriors are definitely not visiting the White House to celebrate their championship win, but the squad just got an invite they might accept.
In a letter to the team on Tuesday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Barbara Lee invited the Warriors and their families to Congress in honor of the victory.
“With your third title in the last four years, the Golden State Warriors have once again dazzled America with your outstanding performance on the court and inspired leadership off the court,” the Cali lawmakers wrote. “You continue to make the Bay Area and indeed the country deeply proud.”
And Congress is so chill about the visit, that they’re down to host the team whenever their schedules are free: “Please consider this as a blanket invitation [to visit] whenever your individual schedules allow.”
Lee even rocked her “Strength in Numbers” Warriors shirt in a picture on Twitter.
It all started when the Philadelphia Eagles announced that they wouldn’t be visiting the White House, which pushed President Trump to have a celebration of America without the team. LeBron James was then asked during an NBA Finals press conference if he’d visit the White House if the Cavaliers won, to which he said, “no one wants an invite” to the White House.
The year before he also didn’t hesitate to call Trump a bum.
The same happened last year when the Warriors won. Instead of celebrating with Trump, the Bay Area team did travel to Washington D.C. but spent the day with kids at the African-American museum.
