Danry Vasquez (NOT pictured above) was arrested for domestic violence in 2016 after an attack on his former girlfriend Fabiana Perez. At the time the video had not surfaced (his girlfriend was not cooperating with authorities) and Danry was able to walk away with a slap wrist. Well now, the video has gone viral and Danry was released from his professional team. According to TMZ:
Vasquez was arrested for domestic violence in Texas back in August 2016 — and despite the fact officials had the video showing him backhanding the woman in the face and continuing to beat her while dragging her down a stairwell … he basically got off with a slap on the wrist.
FYI, at the time of the incident, Vasquez was playing for the Corpus Christi Hooks — the AA minor league affiliate of the Houston Astros. The team released him days after the incident.
Nueces County District Attorney Mark Gonzalez tells TMZ Sports the victim did NOT want to cooperate with prosecutors and wanted the case dropped.
Prosecutors WANTED to press but felt it was an uphill battle with the victim not wanting to press charges. Ultimately, Vasquez was ordered to complete anger management courses … and that’s basically it.
Gonzalez says Vasquez has now completed the terms of his probation and the case was formally dismissed on March 6.
Later, the former girlfriend that was seen in the video stated that she wish she would’ve pressed charges. TMZ Reports:
The woman who was brutalized by baseball player Danry Vasquez says she regrets not pressing charges against him … and prays that he’s a changed man for the sake of his new wife.
Fabiana Perez spoke with Univsion and confirms the two did not break up until months after the 2016 attack. Vasquez got engaged to a new woman in Nov. 2017 and they’re now married.
Perez says the two had been together for 6 years and were engaged at the time of the incident.

Video Surfaces Of Baseball Player Beating His Girlfriend In Texas Stadium Stairwell – blogged by @MsJennyb (Video @tmz_tv) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Former Houston Astros minor-leaguer, #DanryVasquez has been kicked off a professional team in Pennsylvania after video surfaced of a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Vasquez was arrested back in 2016 for the incident, where he assaulted his girlfriend in a Texas stadium. However, the case was dropped after the girlfriend refused to press charges. As a result, Vasquez went on with his life with a career. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ He eventually signed with Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, since the Astros’ minor league affiliate dropped him in the wake of the incident. He was also ordered to complete anger management as a form of probation. However, once the terms were complete, the case was formally dismissed on March 6. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now though, in the wake of the resurfacing of the surveillance footage from the incident, Vasquez has lost his job and has been reduced to a woman beater. (Well, at least that’s what his Wikipedia page says.) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “There is no choice but to sever the relationship,” the team’s manager said in a statement. “Neither I nor the Barnstormers’ organization as a whole, can condone or associate with that behavior.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the video obtained by KRIS-TV, Vasquez is seen walking into the stairwell at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi with his girlfriend on Aug. 2. When the door closes behind him, he immediately slaps his girlfriend across the face. He then grabs her hair and drags her down the stairs before hitting her again. He then leaves and returns to hit her once more, making her fall to the ground.
