Jay-Z could be looking at plenty of new additions to his trophy case this year, with eight nominations for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. But accepting these awards will likely be the only time you see him on the Grammys stage this year.

According to HTS Daily Double, Hov reportedly passed on performing at the prestigious award show.

His latest album, 4:44, was nominated for Record of the Year (“The Story of O.J.”), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (“4:44”), Best Rap Performance (“4:44”), Best Rap/Sung Performance (“Family Feud”), Best Rap Song (“4:44”), Best Rap Album, and Best Music Video (“The Story of O.J.”).

While this year’s performance roster will include talents such as Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar, there might be a trend in turning the show down this year. Drake didn’t submit his album or individual songs from More Life for consideration at the 2018 Grammys.

With Hollywood’s history of having Black artists at award shows as entertainment, but snubbing their actual work and achievements, this could be the artists’ way of pushing back. Hopefully, the Grammys will take the hint.

While we wait to see what the Brooklyn native rakes up at the show, we can be reassured that he won’t go home empty-handed. Jay will reportedly be honored with the 2018 Salute to Industry Icon Award at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala.
