Seems as though some heavy hitters in Hollywood are facing some serious charges this week. Even though Nelly’s recent rape case is most popular these days, right alongside him facing sexual harassment allegations, is film producer, Harvey Weinstein. Most popular for his movies; Pulp Fiction, Shakespeare in Love and Gangs of New York just to name a few, Weinstein was also the co-founder and executive of the production company, The Weinstein Company.
Harvey Weinstein has reportedly faced sexual harassment charges and financial settlement cases with several female celebrities in the past and the news was recently reported and made public by The Times. The Times and Weinstein’s alleged victims says that there is detailed information on numerous incidents where Weinstein displayed actions of sexual harassment, was charged, and settled either in or out of court. Since the news was made public, Weinstein was fired from the Weinstein Company, followed by this statement given to CNN, by actress and close colleague, Meryl Streep, ““The disgraceful news about Harvey Weinstein has appalled those of us whose work he championed, and those who’s good and worthy causes he supported.”.
As a response to The Times release of information, Weinstein stated, “I came of age in the ’60s and ’70s, when all the rules about behavior and workplaces were different, that was the culture then. I have since learned it’s not an excuse, in the office — or out of it.”
Many celebrities male and female, such as Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo, offered their support and praise to the victims, via twitter, for having the bravery to speak up and showed their disapproval toward Harvey Weinstein’s alleged actions. This has been a horrible trend we are seeing form the men in Hollywood and should be stopped immediately.
