“The first song is called ‘Kill JAY-Z’ and obviously, it’s not to be taken literally. It’s really about the ego. It’s about killing off the ego so we can have this conversation in a place of vulnerability and honesty.”- Jay-Z

Last night at 12:00 am all TIDAL subscribers who downloaded and signed up for the streaming service before 12:00 am would be able to here the long-awaited GOAT’s thirteenth studio album. It has been quite some time and now it is finally here! The businessman who handles his business damn has marketed this album amazingly. With Instagram post of himself saying let’s release this album, to random 4:44 billboards being shown in Time Square, Jay has been able to get everyone’s attention for the last couple of months.

With listening parties all over the United States in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles,  and Philadelphia to commemorate the album’s release with some of hip-hop’s best like Elliot Wilson, Angie Martinez, DJ Clue, etc. all fans were able to finally hear the long-awaited album. As an honest Jay-Z fan, this has to be the most honest Sean Carter has been quite some time. With the single “Kill Jay-Z”, Jay talks about the death of his ego in order to be true to oneself. He then stirs rumors in his wife’s true fashion reflecting on their relationship, and addressing cheating rumors. This album is definitely what we have been missing from Hov. Definitely worth the wait! The GOAT even sits down to break down the meaning of each song; especially 4:44 which he states was one of his best songs he has ever written and the crux of the album. HOVI IS HOME!
