“It’s going to be amazing because I want to thank the people who’ve rocked with me all these years, because my fans are a different level of die-hard. So like, I always feel like I gotta make them proud. I gotta go hard. I gotta impress them, because they always waiting for me”- Nicki Minaj
For Hip-Hop’s biggest stars, a classic album is definitely needed to solidify your spot in Hip-Hop’s legacy, putting yourself with the greats and the elites at their crafts. Kanye West’s ‘College Dropout’ or ‘My Dark Twisted Fantasy’, Jay Z ‘The Blueprint’, Nas ‘Illmatic’, Lauryn Hill’ ‘The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill’, and the list goes on. So it is only right that the rap queen herself Nicki Minaj aims to take a seat at the table with the best in the GOATS in the game.
A month ago Complex.com published an article entitled What Makes A Classic Album? Where Complex staffers gave their opinion on what makes a classic album and named their favourite classic albums. Some of the components that the staffer listed were the following: high quality, must impact the genre, and should dominate the air waves, to name a few. The albums that dominated the staffer’s list were of course Kanye West ‘My Dark Twisted Fantasy’, and Jay Z & Kanye West ‘Watch The Throne’.
Nicki Minaj, one cannot argue is reigning in the hip-hop game despite “questionable defeats”. With numerous awards won, and topping the Billboard charts Nicki has no signs of slowing down. Nicki is currently in Miami working on her fourth studio album which she is hoping to be a classic. According to XXlmag.com Nicki sat down with Dj Whoo Kid’s Shade 45 show Whoolywood Shuffle where she was asked what her main goal is. “My goal right now is just releasing this fourth album and watching my fans react to it, because I know it’s going to be my best body of work” states Nicki.
The interview in its entirety does not air until Saturday June 10th from 12pm-6pm exclusively on Whoolywood Shuffle where Nicki discusses The PinkPrint and reuniting with Drake and Lil Wayne.
