Following the release of The Fate of the Furious, director F. Gary Gray has now become the highest-grossing black director in history. Gray is no newcomer to Blockbuster movies. He directed Friday, Straight out of Compton and now Fast and Furious 8.
The eighth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise debuted at No. 1 at the box office, pulling in over $532 million worldwide this past weekend (domestically, the film earned over $100 million). 1st Jordan Peele makes history and now F Gary Gray. A big CONGRATS is warranted, so congrats F Gary Gray.
