Nike is showing respect to all Muslim athletes by manufacturing a Hijab for Muslim women athletes. Nike’s noted mission statement is to “bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world,” while further explaining that, “if you have a body, you’re an athlete.” In making sure no athletes are omitted from this pursuit, the brand will debut a hijab (the traditional head cover worn by Muslim women) designed specifically for sport.
The Nike Pro Hijab, is set to release next spring, and was inspired in part by the requests of Amna Al Haddad, an Emirati weightlifter who mentioned the absence of sport hijabs during trips to Nike’s world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. Big ups to Nike for this his huge move showing equality to all. We don’t know if this is a jab at Donald Trump or not but we hope he’s taking notes.
