TLC is back in the studio and ready to release their fifth and final studio album.
Almost two years the remaining members, TBoz and Chilli, started a KickStarter campaign in hopes to raise money for the project. They were only looking to raise $100k and ended up surpassing their goal, raising a total of $430,000 – which included a $5000 donation from Katy Perry.
On Monday, their manager revealed that the group’s long awaited project is ready to be released, and will drop this summer!
“I am thrilled to let you know that the album is tentatively scheduled to be released at the end of June […] We are working out the official date in the next couple of weeks and once it is final we will notify you,” Bill Diggins wrote on Kickstarter. “This album could not have happened without your support and your confidence in TLC has inspired us greatly to make the best album possible. We would have loved to have delivered this album sooner to you but we are confident that you will agree that it was worth the wait when you hear it. The pursuit of excellence is never an easy task and always takes longer than expected.”
This album will be the first to be recorded entirely without Lisa “Lefteye” Lopes, who passed away April 2002. The last group album, 3D, released 7 months after Lefteye’s passing.
