Flint native Claressa Shields won gold in Sunday’s boxing match against Nouchka Fontijn of the Netherlands.

The 21-year-old is the first American to win back to back gold medals in the women’s middleweight division. Sheilds previously won gold in the London Olympics back in 2012.

“I’m the two-time Olympic champion!” Shields said after her match. “Oh my God, I feel like I’m dreaming. I don’t want to wake up right now.  Please tell me I’m not dreaming.”

“I worked so hard to be here,” she said. “Oh my god, this is crazy.”

Shields’ improved her Olympic record to 6-0 and is a staggering 77-1 overall. She has not lost since 2012 and has won the past two world championships.
