When life hands you lemons, you make music and win Grammy nominations.
That was the formula jazz saxophonist Jimmy Greene used to deal with the grief after his daughter, Ana Marquez Greene, was killed in her classroom at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut. She was 6 years old.
For two years, Greene composed songs, eventually recording an album titled A Beautiful Life to honor Ana. The record has been nominated for two Grammys this year. He revealed that more than 40 musicians and technicians volunteered their time to help him put it together.
“They said, ‘We want to donate — 100 percent donate — the production of a recording at whatever time you feel that you are able to do it. We feel like whatever statement you make musically, in the wake of the horror you have had to suffer, would be really, really powerful and something that the world needs to hear,” Greene said.
Social media had a field day with Eli’s reaction to the Denver Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 win. As the rest of the Manning family cheered, Eli stood in the back in shock and amazement.
“Eli and I have always supported each other. I think Eli is analyzing the game and the end of the game kind of like how I would as if he was playing it. And so he was just as happy,” Peyton explained during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He added, “It’s funny. When I saw that clip, Jimmy, I’ve seen that look before. I recognized it. In other big moments in my life he’s had that expression.”

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum will play Darius Hill, a pro football player and Everlasting’s first Black bachelor on the Lifetime series UnReal. Everyone’s like, “Shhh, you can’t say this, you can’t say that.” You know, no one can get in trouble for [casting a black suitor] because he’s a fictional character, but at the same time, we can bring [the issue] out. And so I’m very excited and very stoked to be able to play a character that’s going to speak to a lot of people. It’s going to make you think.”
