People with late fees and warrant fees on outstanding traffic tickets owed to the 36th District Court  are getting a gift for Christmas.

The court is waiving the fees — but not the original penalties — on all tickets on Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the courthouse, 421 Madison Avenue.

“Instead of going to the mall, we are encouraging people to take advantage of this one-time opportunity to restore their driving privileges and save hundreds of dollars on each ticket,” Chief Judge Nancy M. Blount said in a statement today. “The new year is a time for new beginnings and we are trying to help people start the year off with a clean slate.”

Be clear that this is NOT an amnesty program. The court accepts cash, credit card, money order or check.
