Time magazine has just released a list of the 16 Most Influential Fictional Characters of 2015 and right at the top is Empire’s lead character, Cookie Lyon, played by Taraji P. Henson.
With her high-drama scheming and higher-drama wardrobe, the Lyon family matriarch (played by Taraji P. Henson) was the biggest draw on TV’s most popular new show, Empire, luring more than 13 million viewers a week. In addition to spawning countless memes and catchphrases, she also helped inspire a clothing line at Saks Fifth Avenue. As Cookie herself said, “That’s my name. Take a bite.”
Although, viewership for Lee Daniels’ hit Fox drama has dropped recently, its great to see people recognizing the talent and more importantly the influence Empire has, which is partly because of Taraji P. Henson great ability to bring Cookie Lyon’s character to life.
