Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials won the box office race this weekend, beating out Johnny Depp’s Black Mass. With an opening haul of $30.3m, the highly anticipated sequel did not disappoint.
The newest film in the action-packed series follows Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) as he leads the maze runners through a new series of dangerous threats.
So, what makes this movie bigger and different [Dylan’s words, not ours] than the first? We spoke with Hollywood’s newest heartthrob to get the answers.
“This movie is bigger in so many ways. It seems like we’re in a different movie almost every 10 minutes. Story-wise, it really opens up and you find out a lot more about what’s happening to the earth, the people, and you find out more about our paths. It’s more of an action movie than the first one. It never stops moving for a second,” he said.
“Teen Wolf prepares me for everything,” he revealed. “It is the greatest practice school I could ever have asked for. It’s really important to have reps as an actor. You have to be doing it every day. You can’t just think about it, it takes physical strength. Out of everyone, I’m a very inexperienced actor. I didn’t train growing up. So it was where I was able to learn by doing and work with people who have been doing it forever.”
