Blackout to strike Detroit

Youth plan rally for Black life, against police brutality.


DETROIT- As part of a national day of action, Black youth in Detroit are organizing a mass demonstration Saturday. People are invited to rally in Hart plaza until 2pm then march up Woodward avenue to Grand Circus park at 2:30pm.

When they arrive, there will be public protest.  Blackout Detroit activists, Mahogany Dixon and Kiyla Maddox will speak about the need to raise awareness of black unity, equality and about strategies to combat state-sanctioned, racially-motivated violence against black people. Representatives of the Black Lives Matter Detroit organization will discuss the investigation into the death of Terrance Kellom. Brianna Hoseay will perform her original spoken word pieces.
