Metro Detroit’s fast food workers rallied for a raise Thursday afternoon.
Workers gathered outside the Redford McDonald’s on Telegraph near 5-Mile Road to ask for $15 an hour.
Just Wednesday, New York’s Wage Board recommended that fast food workers make $15 an hour.
It’s not a done deal yet, but it is giving metro Detroit fast food workers hope that if they continue to organize, they could also end up with a raise … click here for more details!
People living near Dexter Avenue say Detroit isn’t fixing the street lights fast enough
Every Thursday night, people in northwest Detroit are trying to shed light on the darkness of Dexter Avenue.
They’ve been doing it for the past two months– and the streetlights are still out.
The city plans to eventually replace 45,000 thousand streetlights, but community leaders say even that wouldn’t be enough.
By their count, 88,000 lights no longer work. They say it’s made them afraid of the dark in more ways than one.

Search for man in water near Belle Isle bridge
The Coast Guard says it is searching for a man who went missing in the water near Belle Isle overnight.
The man went missing near the bridge around 1 a.m. Thursday.
