Reggie Jackson re-signs with Pistons on 5-year, $80M contract

The Detroit Pistons and point guard Reggie Jackson have agreed to a five-year, $80 million contract extension, the Free Press has learned.

Two persons with firsthand knowledge of the negotiations confirmed the Yahoo! Sports report this evening.

They requested anonymity because the agreement comes during the league’s free agency moratorium which ends Thursday. That’s when agreements are officially signed. The agreement means the Pistons have locked up their point guard of the future, who was acquired at the trade deadline from the Oklahoma City Thunder … click here for more details!

Woman killed in hit and run crash on Detroit’s east side

A 41-year-old woman was killed Saturday night after the car she was in was hit by a Envoy on Detroit’s east side, police said.

Four people were inside a Dodge Charger that was traveling northbound on Joseph Campau Avenue at around 10:50 p.m. Saturday when the car was hit by a red Envoy traveling westbound on Nevada Avenue, according to officers.

Police say it’s unknown if the Envoy ran a red light or a stop sign, but it was traveling at a high speed when it hit the Charger. The driver got out of the car and fled the scene on foot.

Police say woman died after being attacked in Detroit

A woman died in the hospital Sunday after she was attacked near the Victory Inn in the 17700 block of Telegraph road in Detroit.

Witnesses told officers that a man was assaulting the woman. Police took her to the hospital, where she died.
