Man riding bicycle shot to death

Detroit police are investigating after they say a man was shot to death while riding his bicycle.

Police say the victim is in his 50s, but have not given his name yet.

The shooting happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday on Tuller Road, near the intersections of Fenkell and Livernois avenues.

Gunman robs man on Detroit’s east side

Detroit police are asking for the public’s help with identifying and finding two men wanted in connection to two armed robberies on the city’s east side.

Video from 1:18 a.m. June 12 shows armed men rob a 23-year-old man as he was walking up to his porch in the 3000 block of Bristow. The video shows one of the robbers with a long gun.

Police say the robbers stole the man’s cellphone before getting back into their vehicle and fleeing westbound on Bristow, then southbound on Conant. No injuries were reported.

Detroit police say the same men committed a second robbery just minutes later at the intersection of Lawley and Klinger. They robbed a 50-year-old man who was talking on his cellphone outside. The robbers approached him at gunpoint and stole an undetermined amount of cash.

State Senate votes to raise gas tax for road repair

The Michigan gas tax plan to raise the price by .15 cents a gallon was passed by the Senate Wednesday, according to Tim Skubick.

The Senate voted to approve the rate hike which should raise about $1.4 to $1.5 billion per year to fix Michigan roads.

The deciding vote was cast by Lt. Gov. Brian Calley to break a 20-19 tie.

The rates would raise incrementally under the plan by .4 cents on Oct. 1 and Jan. 1, 2016 and a .7 cent increase on Jan. 1, 2017.

The plan would also redirect $700 million from the state’s general fund. The House passed a plan three weeks ago that avoids gas tax increases … click here for more details!
