Jurassic World killed it at the box office this weekend, sweeping in a record $208.8 million in North American ticket sales. The movie also brought in the highest world weekend debut sales of all time, with $524 million in total.
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
Playing in 4,273 theaters, Jurassic World received the widest North American release in the studio’s history. And it did huge business in 3D houses, which contributed roughly 48 percent of all domestic revenue, a strong showing considering 3D has been on the decline (RealD is the dominant provider of 3D systems in the U.S.) Moviegoers feasted on the film in Imax locations, which ponied up a record $44.1 million globally and $20.6 million domestically. Premium large format screens also saw record traffic, turning in a sizable $16.2 million.
*SPOILER ALERT* Game of Thrones fans are likely still mourning the death of Jon Snow, who met his untimely end in last night’s episode.

[Kit] Harington was asked directly about fan speculation that Thrones author George R.R. Martin had left Snow’s death ambiguous in the books, in particular fan speculation is rife that by using special powers, Snow can transfer his consciousness into his Direwolf Ghost. Harington revealed that the show’s producers made it pretty clear his character was done. “I had a sit-down with Dan [Weiss] and David [Beinhoff], we did the Tony Soprano walk [letting an actor know they’re being whacked]. And they said, ‘Look, you’re gone, it’s done.’”
Carmelo Anthony is linking up with Nickelodeon as creative director for a consumer product line of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles items that will be called Turtles by Melo. Anthony made a cameo in the sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which likely sparked the inspiration for a collab.
The line, which will be called Turtles by Melo, will feature everything from video games to home furnishings.“I am so excited about the opportunity to work with the Nickelodeon team on this new Turtles venture,”said Anthony. “The Turtles were such a huge part of my childhood, so to now be partnering with Nickelodeon on ‘Turtles by Melo’ is honestly something I never could have imagined. I watch with my son.” Turtles by Melo is slated to be released during Spring 2016 in conjunction with the debut of Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.
Game 5 of the NBA Finals delivered a record-setting amount of television ratings for NBA Finals on ABC, despite competing with the season finale of Game of Thrones for the top spot.
According to The Washington Post:
ESPN, which produces the NBA telecasts for ABC, reported Game 5 of the Golden State-Cleveland series posted a 14.2 overnight rating, the highest for any game in this series and the best rating for any Finals game since ESPN received the NBA contract during the 2002-03 season.
