DPD release sketch of man accused of raping teen, trying to take boy

The Detroit Police Department released a sketch of a man they say raped one teenage girl and tried to take another teenage boy this week.

Police say the first attack happened near Henry Ford High School Wednesday morning. A teenage girl told authorities she was waiting at a bus stop for a friend when she was attacked and raped. The friend she was waiting for was not going to be there; she died after being hit by a fan the night before. The victim didn’t know about the accident.

On Thursday morning, Detroit police said a 14-year-old boy came forward and said a man with the same features as the suspect she described tried to convince the boy to get in his car. The teen said he did not get in and reported the crime to authorities … click here for more details.

Outburst in court from mother of children found dead in freezer

The Detroit mother accused of killing two of her children and storing their bodies in a freezer was in court Thursday morning for a custody hearing.

FOX 2’s Taryn Asher is there and reports tensions ran high as Mitchelle Blair’s son testified against her.

The boy testified Blair killed Stephen, 9, and Stoni, 13, because he saw it happen. The boy also testified his sister, Stoni, raped him, which prompted an eruption in court from Blair.

Belle Isle expanding summer hours for attractions

Belle Isle is filled with many fun and family-friendly attractions, and as school gets out and summer begins, the hours for those attractions are expanding.

The state announced on Wedneseday that visitors will be able to enjoy more time at the Belle Isle Aquarium, Dossin Great Lakes Museum, Scott Fountain and giant slide during the summer.

Beginning Friday, June 5, the Belle Isle Aquarium will start to open on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Labor Day. That is on top of the aqaurium already being open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m … click here for more details.
