Nearly 1K DTE customers remain without power
DTE said at least 31,500 customers lost power Sunday at around noon in southeast Michigan.
At least 900 people in Wayne and Oakland Counties remained without power Monday morning because of an equipment failure at the Evergreen Station located near Evergreen Road and Schoolcraft Avenue in west Detroit. DTE said the equipment failure damaged 11 substations at the site.
DTE is hoping to restore power to the remaining customers Monday.
Some west side fire stations in Detroit were affected by the outage. The trucks are outside the garage, so the fire department can still respond to fire emergencies.
Redford Police tweeted that another power outage had disabled traffic signals in their area.

A seventy-year-old Vietnam veteran is dead after what police are calling a truly bizarre accident. Identified by family, Charles Williamson spent five years as a Detroit Police officer was killed February 23 while working on his van.

Williamson was outside of the van, near the front of the vehicle, when the van rolled forward pinning and killing him.
