Both directions of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel have been shut down due to a suspicious package, officials confirmed Tuesday evening.
Detroit Police Cmdr. Elvin Barren said the tunnel was shut down around 6 p.m. by Windsor Police.
“There’s a suspicious device on the Canadian side so they shut down both outbound and inbound directions,” Barren said. “What that device is, I don’t know. They made the call.”
Barren said Windsor Police are in charge of the investigation.
“On our end, we’re monitoring traffic.”
