Close to two years after the release of her self-titled album, Ciara returns strong. We must admit that the singer-songwriter gives fans a first taste of her upcoming sixth studio album with new single “I Bet,” which premiered on Hot 107.5 with The Morning Heat!
If you listen to the song below, it’s all but clear that Ciara is putting her ex on blast on the first single off her upcoming sixth album.
On the mid-tempo jam, produced by Harmony Samuels and co-written by Ciara and Rock City, a hurt Ciara sings about a lover who did her wrong, much like her ex-fiancé Future. The former couple, who has an eight-month-old son together, reportedly called off their engagement after rumors of Future’s infidelity.
With lyrics like “You acting like you upgraded me, but I upgraded you… You took advantage, I can’t understand it,” it’s not hard to make a connection.
Then when you add that with her other lyrics like “I bet you start loving me/ As soon as I start loving someone else/ Somebody better than you/ I bet you start needing me/ As soon as you see me with someone else/ Somebody other than you,” she sings on the hook. “And I know that it hurts/ You know that it hurts your pride/ But you thought the grass was greener on the other side.” It’s almost a no-brainer that the this is about her past relationship.

Ciara has been quietly recording new music and taking care of her beautiful baby boy, Future Zahir Wilburn, born on May 19. She has also been in the studio with Polow Da Don, Dr. Luke, and Diane Warren working on the follow-up to 2013’s Ciara, due this spring.
