Michigan Election Coalition Launches Student Voting Guide
Volunteers drop off guide at college campuses across Michigan
MICHIGAN – Today, on the last day to register to vote in the November election, the Michigan Election Coalition released its 2014 Student Voting Guide. Volunteers dropped off the student voting guides at campuses across the state, including Michigan State University, Lansing Community College, Eastern Michigan University, and the University of Michigan.
“We want to make sure that every student has the information they need to cast their vote on Election Day. Our 2014 Student Voting Guide clearly lays out all the steps that students need to take to register, plan, and vote,” said Sharon Dolente, Michigan Election Coalition director. “Students are our future leaders and their opinions matter. Decisions made by our elected leaders will affect them for years to come so it’s crucial that every eligible student make their voice heard in our elections.”
Last month, the Michigan Election Coalition launched a first-of-its-kind website featuring step-by-step instructions on how to register and vote in Michigan, how to vote as a student, important dates, Election Day frequently asked questions, and information about what the MEC is currently working on to improve and expand access to voting in Michigan.
