Earlier this month, he received an offer from Boston College and on Monday night we learned that Winston had gained another offer this time from the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Winston’s head coach Pat Donnelly announced the news of Winston’s latest offer from Ohio State on Twitter.

If you ask me, Winston will only continue gain more offers from here. Besides his impressive offer list, Winston is also being recruited by a number of schools, including Maryland, Harvard, Davison and Georgetown. In fact, Winston recently visited Maryland, Georgetown and Davison, earlier this month.

If you’re wondering what it is about Winston that has so many college coaches impressed and intrigued, the simple answer is that this young man is extremely talented, not to mention he is very humble and hard-working.

The 6-foot guard may not be the biggest or the quickest but he has a very high basketball IQ and well-rounded skill set which allows him to be one of the more productive players in the state of Michigan. As a creator, he has always displayed great court vision and he has tendency to make the toughest pass look easy. Offensively, he has an explosive crossover and once he gets past the first line of defense, he is more than capable of taking the ball to the rim and finishing strong against contact but he also has a smooth mid range jumper that he can hit on a consistent basis.

If that’s not enough, Winston is one of the hardest working players in the state. Back in July, U-D Jesuit coach Pat Donnelly spoke to Jake Thielen of, telling him that Winston has helped set an example for his teammates this summer by spending his off-season training to improve his game.

“His work ethic is unmatched,” Donnelly said to Jake Thielen of last month. “He’s in the gym every morning at 7 a.m. to work on his ball handling and perimeter skills. He’s committed to improving his game and the team.”

At this point, the main area that most scouts believe that Winston needs improve on, is his defense. According to coach Donnelly’s interview with Jake Thielen of last month, Winston understands that and has made a point to improve his defense this off-season.

Winston said he is focused on improving his game on the defensive side of the floor this year by “staying in front of the ball” more than he did last year. Donnelly agreed that defense is an area where Winston can improve, which would only serve to raise his recruiting stock.

“He’s going to have to show potential college coaches that he can guard the ball effectively and stay in front of his man,” Donnelly said to Jake Thielen of last month. “He’s been working on his quickness so he can be a better defender

I don’t know about you but I plan to keep my eye on Winston because with two more years of high school left, there is no telling how lethal Winston will become. He’s already coming off a great sophomore season where he reportedly averaged 18 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and three steals per game and I have no doubt he will perform at even higher level this season.
