Detroit Water Department Targets Businesses For Outstanding Balances
Sources say the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department is now targeting businesses for unpaid balances. The Department received concerns from the community about residential shut offs; now DWSD released a statement saying that they are sending notices to discontinue services to businesses for delinquent balances.
Department officials say the Detroit Medical Center, The Detroit Music Hall, Tall Eez Shoes and the Michigan Science Center all have outstanding balances. Other reports say the water department is t$2 million in debt due to bad book-keeping rather than unpaid water bills. Residential customers seeking assistance with water services can contact the Wayne Metro- Community Action Agency.
Republicans Want President Obama Out
According to the Washington Post, a growing number of Republicans are on board to impeach President Barack Obama. Former Vice President Candidate Sarah Palin says the issue with immigration was her deciding factor to get the president out of the White House. Locally, Michigan Senator Kerry Bentivolio is on board to impeach the President as well.
Detroit Meteorologist Gets Surgery After Losing Eye In Fireworks Accident
WXYZ Chief Meteorologist Dave Rexroth is recovering from surgery after a fireworks accident caused him to lose his left eye. According to sources, the surgery went well and he will be fitted for a prosthetic eye. Rexroth released a statement of gratitude on his Facebook page for all the support and kind words from his viewing audience.
Residents Can Get $1,500 For Unpaid Water Bills
A one-million-dollar grant is being issued to help Detroit residents pay their water bills. This week, hundreds of eligible candidates can take advantage of the Detroit Residential Water Assistance Program. Qualified applicants can receive up to $1,500 towards their delinquent balances.
Customers seeking assistance must fall below the 200-percent of Federal Government Poverty Levels and live in a single-family home. A family of four can not exceed $47,000 annually to qualify.
Vice President Biden Will Visit Detroit Next Week
Vice President Joe Biden will visit Detroit next week. A group of liberal activists with the Net-Roots Nation confirms that Biden will speak at the annual convention. The speech will take place July 17th— which features major political candidates and promising up-comers.
Sources say Biden hasn’t ruled out running for President in 2016. Reports state that the visit will help Biden keep strong ties with the Democrats and liberals.
