imagesKicks 4 Kids Foundation will host its 4th Annual Fundraiser on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 5p.m. to 9p.m. at Woody’s at 208 West Fifth Avenue in Royal Oak,  Michigan.

Kicks 4 Kids is an organization dedicated to providing a new pair of sneakers for elementary school children in Pontiac and Detroit Michigan. Due to its phenomenal success last year, Kicks 4 Kids is expanding to schools throughout Metro Detroit. This year’s goal is secure 100 donated pairs of new sneakers before heading into the event.

Kicks 4 Kids was founded by Che’Keita Jones, a Pontiac school teacher who saw the need and impact of students not having a decent pair of sneakers. Students were still wearing old, wornout boots in the spring, and they shared with her that their families could not afford to buy them new shoes. Jones sprang into action, hosted a gathering at a local restaurant, and asked friends and family to come and make monetary donations. She raised enough money to buy every student in her classroom a new pair of sneakers and presented them to the students as a surprise!

“During these tough economic times, it is still important to donate and help others, especially our children. To some it is just a pair of sneakers but for the children, the sneakers are a confidence booster.”

The admission for the event is $10 in advance and $15 at the door with proceeds going directly to purchase new sneakers for the children. This year’s event will feature a raffle and silent auction, with prizes and support from sponsors including Burn Rubber of Royal Oak and metro Detroit store chain Pink Pump. Sponsor packages are still available.
