Veterans and others are urged to apply
DETROIT – DTE Energy is starting a new Boot Camp to train veterans and others to become employees in the company’s electric operations area.
The Combined Distribution Boot Camp will be from June 23 to July 25 at MIAT in Canton. There are 30 available seats for training with a potential for employment upon the training’s completion. While there is no guarantee of employment, Boot Camp students who successfully complete the training are expected to be well qualified and ready to start careers in the energy industry upon graduation.
The course work will cover DTE Energy’s pre-employment occupational specific training that covers multiple electric operation positions. Upon completion of training, the candidates will receive a certificate of completion from MIAT College of Technology and DTE Energy.
All qualified candidates are required to participate in activities prior to the start of training and complete them by no later than Friday, May 23. SEMCA Michigan Works! will coordinate the activities with qualified candidates.
Those interested should have at least a high school diploma or GED, including verified successful completion of high school-level mathematics including the fundamentals of algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Previous electrical experience or training is preferred.
In addition, candidates must be proficient with basic computer functions, able to carry 70 pounds of equipment, and work from ladders and elevated platforms.
Interested candidates should send their resumes to SEMCA Michigan Works! at email@example.com.
