westland-mayor-william-wild_optWESTLAND – The campaign team for Bill Wild, candidate for Wayne County executive, said today that their total fundraising – so far – has  exceeded $500,000.

“It’s a real honor to have so many people invest their hard-earned dollars

in this campaign,” said Wild. “I’m going to work every day to reward their

trust, and bring Wayne County the kind of ethical, transparent

government that will make us all proud.”

“Bill’s message is really catching on,” said Vanessa Denha-Garmo, spokesperson for the Wild campaign. “We’re getting contributions from all over the county. People are ready for change – and they believe Bill has the track record to get the job done.”

The half-million dollars collected in contributions so far includes campaign fundraising in 2013 and 2014 for Wild for a New Wayne County  and the William R. Wild Leadership Fund.  Bill Ford, chairman of Ford Motor Company, recently hosted a standing room only fundraising breakfast for the Wild Campaign in Dearborn. The  campaign also has nine additional fundraising events scheduled during the  next thirty days.

“Bill Ford opens a lot of doors for us, because he’s a civic leader people really respect,” said Denha-Garmo. “And the more people learn about Bill Wild, the more they like him.”

Wild, a longtime Westland resident and small business owner, became mayor of Westland in 2007 and soon found the city facing a projected $50 million deficit.  Working together with city officials, city employees, labor unions and

surrounding communities, Wild engineered a turnaround that eliminated the projected deficit He recently proposed a three-year balanced budget for Westland, which will leave the city with a $5.6 million surplus in 2014-2015.

While addressing the city’s financial problems, Wild also attracted $200 million in new business investment and invested in critical city services, including improved housing for seniors, expanded recycling, new vehicles

for police officers and a new fire station.

Wild, who also served on the Westland City Council and the city’s Planning Commission, announced his candidacy for Wayne County  executive in January. He is married to Sherri Wild, a 6th grade science

teacher. They live in Westland with their three children.
