Justin Hunter 2

It was on March 7th, 2014 that Detroit Country Day (Mich.) junior offensive tackle Justin Hunter, received his first division one offer, when he officially earned a scholarship offer from Austin Peay State University. Since that time, it’s safe to say that Hunter’s college interest from other schools has only increased more.

On Saturday, Hunter visited Ohio University and before the visited ended, Hunter was presented with his second division one scholarship offer and he says he couldn’t be more excited about his latest offer from Ohio.

“The offer from Ohio excites me, it means a lot to me knowing that my family will not have to pay for college.” Hunter said. “I really enjoyed my visit, the school has a great campus and the coaches were great. While I was their I toured the facilities and spent some time with the offensive line coach. Overall, I liked the atmosphere and really enjoyed getting to interact with the coaches.”

Hunter’s college interest doesn’t stop at Ohio University, as of right now, Hunter is gaining interest from Harvard, Penn, Cornell, Columbia, Brown, Syracuse, Michigan State, Toledo, Western Michigan and Bowling Green State. In the last few weeks, Hunter has visited Brown, Michigan State and Harvard and to say the visits went well would be an understatement.

“I had a great time at Brown.” Hunter said. “Brown has a great campus within walking distance to the city. While I was their I met coaches and the recruiting coordinator, who showed me around the campus and facilities. Overall, I loved the atmosphere and the education that Brown offers.

“My visit to Michigan State was special. They really took care of me and the facilities where the best I’ve ever seen. While I was their I sat in on some of the positions meetings and watched practice. I loved the atmosphere and I felt like all the players where really good people.”

However, while Hunter admits that he enjoyed his visits to Michigan State and Brown, he states that his visit to Harvard had the best campus of any school he’s visited so far.

“Harvard has the best campus of any school I’ve visited.” Hunter replied. “The education at Harvard is the best and they  are the eighth winningest team in NCAA Division I football history. While I was there, a player showed me around and I got to spend some time with the coaches. I really liked the diversity of the team and the connections that being a football player provides.”

Although, Hunter has yet to receive offers from any other schools than Austin Peay State and Ohio, Hunter states that he believes Harvard is close to offering and that he hopes to receive more offers as his recruiting process continues.

“At this point, I think Harvard is close to offering me but I don’t think Michigan and Brown are yet.” Hunter said. “My goal is to visit Syracuse, Western Michigan and Cornell soon. Other than that, I need to keep working hard and remain consistent with my workouts and in the classroom. At the end of the day, I want to attend a school that has a great education system and a successful football program that has strong facilities.”

“As of right now, my goal is to commit later in the spring or during the summer. However, until that time comes, I will continue to get ready for my senior season and enjoy the recruiting process, which has given me the opportunity to meet some great people and see beautiful places. It has been a grind, but overall it has been a blessing that I wouldn’t trade for anything.”
