Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West’s days of non-ranting are nowhere near as footage of him lashing out on various topics including awards shows, gossip sites and more has surfaced.
In new footage of Ye at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, he does not hold back on letting loose with his personal stance toward various topics.
Kanye West had his second of two performances at the Barclays Center last night, and this time, he decided to voice his opinion about the MTV Video Music Awards. According to Kanye, he was outraged that Bruno Mars won “all the awards.” Mars won the awards for Best Choreography and Best Male Video, the former for “Treasure” and the latter for “Locked Out Of Heaven.” According to Kanye, these awards were given to Mars in order for the networks to sell the most product using “the prettiest motherf*cker out.” Kanye attacked Media Takeout and those who comment on the site (which he apparently looks at beyond the 10th comment). He took issue to those who call the Yeezus tour “the best rap concert,” insisting it’s the best show across any genre of music. He also recounted a conversation he had with Oprah recently. She apparently told him, “They’re scared of you, Ye.” Kanye’s response? “I said, ‘Oprah, it’s a new day.” (Complex)
West’s remarks come after he not only appeared but performed at the summer MTV Video Music Awards show.
Kanye West performed at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 25) for a historic seventh time. West captivated the Video Music Awards audience with a dramatic version of ‘Blood on the Leaves’, which features on his current album Yeezus. His performance was noticeably more intimate than previous turns on the awards show, with West rapping passionately against a projected image of a darkened landscape. The rapper’s seventh performance at the MTV awards show tied him with Madonna for the all-time record. (Digital Spy)
Despite the perception, Mars earned his first MTV VMAs trophy last August.
Earlier in the night, he seemed pretty stoked to have won a Moonman. “Thank you so much this is my first Moonman y’all,” he told the room when he accepted his Best Male trophy. “All the fans who voted, I love y’all. Thank you guys so much, Thank you MTV, Thank you!” (MTV)
Coincidentally, Ye did not take aim at the NFL as Mars is slated to perform at this year’s Super Bowl.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made. The official word is expected to come at an event in New York’s Times Square on Sunday. The NFL’s regular season began Thursday, and the first full slate of games is Sunday. The Super Bowl will be played Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Halftime shows have drawn more than 100 million television viewers in the United States alone in past years. (ESPN)
