Keys for Tigers to Win Game 3 of the ALCS

Due to Boston’s dramatic comeback in Game 2, Tigers come back to Comerica Park tied 1-1 with the Red Sox. Now while many Tiger fans were upset about the Tigers not handling business in Game 2, trust they will have that opportunity today in Game 3.

Game 3 can be very telling, not to mention each team will have an opportunity to take the lead. However for the Tigers to win, there are some keys they must follow.

One thing the Tigers pride themselves on is pitching and for good reason, they have legit pitchers in Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander and going into this game they will need Justin Verlander. Now we all know Verlander had his issues during the regular season but no one can deny that he has come up big for the Tigers so far in the postseason and Tigers will need him to do that again tonight. If Verlander can possibly give six or seven strong innings of pitching, Tigers should be able to win.

I am still looking for those unsung heroes to step up and play their part. For example, Austin Jackson has yet to get going, he continues to be a streaky hitter and at times he looks lost. Torri Hunter has also had his inconsistent moments in the ACLS but Jhonny Peralta has continued to be a consistent force for the Tigers especially with Miguel Cabrera not being a 100% and hopefully he will continue to do that moving forward. I said this before and I will say it again, someone else must step up besides Cabrera, Verlander or Scherzer. We will see who does so in game 3 tonight.

The most important key for the Tigers to come out victorious, is a consistent bullpen. Tigers bullpen has been an area of concern all year and the bullpen was one of the reasons they lost game 2. In game 2, Tigers bullpen gave up four runs allowing the Red Sox to tie the game and they also allowed Red Sox to win the game with a run in the ninth inning. Tigers bullpen must do better job moving forward or they will continue to struggle.
