The World’s Largest Afterschool Block Party for Kids

WHO In a joint effort to help school age children in the Detroit community, the UniverSoul Circus has teamed up with Radio One Detroit and the Robert Shumake Foundation to encourage youth to return to school with a Winning Attitude by providing 1500 students with much needed school supplies!Other sponsors include: Twisted Water, Sour Ceinc, Shields Pizza, Solomon Distributing, Uncle Rays Chips, Villa, Detroit Seafood Market, Kiko Hardison of Starchild Entertainment, Councilwoman Brenda Jones and Chene Park.

WHAT Return, renew, and reconnect with UniverSoul Circus and the community at The World’s Largest Afterschool Block Party for Kids!”  This special afterschool party is designed to send children off to school with a grand celebration of food, needed school supplies, games, giveaways, exhibits and live demonstrations for families, including a “Back To School Uniform Fashion Show” by Starchild Entertainment.
WHY According to the Washington Post, “Detroit has a 16 percent unemployment rate, and Michigan Works was able to place only 2,300 workers into positions last year. That leaves a lot of children at-risk for not having the proper educational supplies. The purpose of this free event is to make sure that the children who are in need of school supplies are able to get them.
