NFL player Chad Ochocinco has released a statement on the events which took place roughly 72 hours ago and cost him a spot on the Miami Dolphins, a reality show and possibly his wife Evelyn Lozada.
Despite reports of Lozada seeking a divorce, Ochocinco proclaimed his love for the reality star.
It’s been a nightmare couple of days since Chad Johnson was arrested for alleged domestic assault against wife Evelyn Lozada. The wideout was released by the Dolphins, his reality television show was canceled and Lozada announced she’s filing for divorce. On Tuesday, Johnson issued an apology for “recent events” and didn’t refute Lozada’s claim from earlier in the day that he “made false accusations against” her. “I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death,” Johnson said in a statement. “I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL. To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies. I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life.” (CBS Sports)
Earlier in the day, Evelyn released her own statement and scolded Ocho.
“It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday. I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.” (USA Today)
Her remarks came a day after VH1 pulled the plug on the now-nixed “Ev and Ocho” reality show.
VH1 scrapped plans to produce a reality show series based on Chad Johnson’s marriage to reality star Evelyn Lozada, who appeared on the network’s “Basketball Wives” series. “Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series Ev and Ocho from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it,” the network said in a statement. The NFL player left a Florida jail Sunday after getting arrested the night before.
Chad Johnson walked out of jail at around 10:00 AM this morning after posting $2,500 bond following his arrest last night for allegedly assaulting his wife, Evelyn Lozada. Johnson walked out with his lawyer, Adam Swickle, and was greeted by his brother. Chad faced a barrage of questions from the reporters waiting outside … but remained silent as he made his way to a waiting SUV. As TMZ first reported, the alleged incident between Johnson and his “Basketball Wives” star wife Lozada was so bad … Lozada ran to a neighbor’s house for safety. (TMZ)
