This is a Part Time, Regular Employee position located in Detroit.
Support and maintain operation of a Senior Center in cooperation with the Center Coordinator. Available to work 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Monday – Thursday, with specific hours as assigned.
H.S. diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree in gerontology preferred
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to organize work, basic clerical skills.
Must be dependable and responsible.
Satisfactory driving record, drug screening, and police check are required.
Skills in interacting with the public.
Knowledge and ability with computer software such as Quicken, MS Word and Excel.
Skills in organizing and conducting group activities, especially with older adults.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Assist in scheduling clients for various services such as transportation, blood pressure screening, legal aid, etc. as directed.
Interacting with present clients and potential clients, by welcoming them, responding to their questions, offering information, encouraging their participation, and helping to assure their comfort in the center.
Assist in keeping attendance records for classes and sign-up sheets for trips and special activities, etc. as directed.
Assisting with the daily routine of opening and closing the center and setting up for various program activities, as directed.
Assisting with keeping division equipment and supplies secure.
Performing basic clerical functions and record keeping as assigned.
Serving as telephone receptionist and by making outgoing calls as directed.
Assisting clients as needed to facilitate their fullest participation in center activities and services.
Helping to interpret and reinforce center procedures with clients so that there is consistency and understanding of program guidelines.
Adheres to Matrix Human Services/RSS policies, procedures and objectives.
Promotes the values of Matrix Human Services/RSS by demonstrating behaviors supportive of a commitment to quality, client and division confidentiality, respect for clients and co-workers, teamwork, open communication, and efficient and effective use of resources.
