Maintain clean kitchen by removal of trash, sweeping and moping of floors, cleaning a variety of equipment, wash dishes, pots, pans, filtering of fryers, cleaning of hood vents and drains. Must assist and work with other kitchen cleaners and staff performing general cleaning of kitchen areas and maintain a neat and clean work environment following HACCP standards and health codes. Other duties as assigned by Chef, Operations Manager, or General Manager.

Required Qualifications*

Must be able to demonstrate communication skills both written and verbal; must be able to follow instructions; must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities including pushing, pulling, lift at least 50 lbs on a regular basis, bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, etc.; must have the ability to work in a diverse, fast paced customer service environment.

Desired Qualifications*

Reasonable knowledge of University Policies and Procedures.

Work Schedule

Monday – Thursday 11:00 am – 7:30 pm, Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Saturday & Sunday Off

Additional Information

Department – University Housing – Barbour Newberry Dining Service

Hourly pay rate: $12.50-$15.00

This is a 40 hour Seasonal position.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the AFSCME union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
