Drake may not be used to hearing ladies say “No” these days, but that’s exactly what Sade recently did.
Drizzle listed the soul singer as one of the artists he wanted to collaborate with for his upcoming debut album, Thank Me Later, because according to Drake, Sade “embodies a lot of class, her brand is so strong and she’s such an amazing woman.”
But according to Sade, no one from the Canadian rapper’s team contacted her regarding a feature, and even if they did she probably wouldn’t have agreed to it.
“I don’t think they have contacted me,” said Sade to Canada’s National Post. “I’ve never collaborated because I’ve always avoided working outside of my safety zone. I can be exactly who I am and can fail or succeed within the moment. I feel safe working like I do. I wouldn’t want to work in a situation where I am expected to deliver, because I think I wouldn’t deliver.”
In April, Drake will embark on a 25-city Away From Home tour that will make stops at several colleges and festivals including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festival and the Bamboozle Festival in Rutherford, New Jersey.
His debut album Thank Me Later is set for a March release, and will reportedly feature collaborations with Jay-Z, Eminem, Andre 3000, and R&B singer The-Dream.
