Universal Music has reportedly previewed a portion of Drake’s upcoming Thank Me Later album which features production from Kanye West, Timbaland and more.

Based off a write-up from attendee Ace Burpee, Drake will also be linking with Eminem and Dr. Dre for the album.

1) There’s a song on the disc called “Fireworks” that has the greatest beat ever. Drake has this sidekick producer called 40, and he’s talented. I met him as well this afternoon and he’s also a good kid. He’s about to be very, very busy. “Fireworks” has a hook on it courtesy of Kings of Leon. It’s catchy. 2) There is a Kanye West-produced track on the album that comes with a story. The track was made by Kanye for Beyonce, but Drake really wanted it so he wrote her a handwritten letter asking if he could use it. She read it and thought it was sweet and e-mailed him to give her permission. It’s a great track. 3) There’s a Jay-Z/Drake track that he played for us – minus Jay’s verse. Jay-Z doesn’t let anyone hear his stuff before it comes out. Drake claims it is the greatest verse Jay’s ever done. 4) I think the final track on the album is called “Thank Me Now” or something. He played us a recorded verse then did another one live and it was one of the best. Really cool. 5) He sings on a bunch of tracks on the album. 6) This Saturday Drake will be in L.A. doing a track with Dr. Dre and Eminem. 7) Yes, there is a Timbaland beat on the album.” (Winnipeg Free Press)

Producer Boi-1da recently spoke on what fans could expect from the Canadian emcee’s debut.

“Let me just say that the album is coming sooner than anyone can expect, when it’s just going to drop. It’s coming very soon, and it’s going to be very close to now. That’s all I’m going to say. And this isn’t it. I mean this ‘Over,’ joint is dope but Thank Me Later as a whole, is probably…and I’m not being biased cause I worked on it…but from what I’ve heard it’s one of the greatest albums I’ve ever heard. I haven’t heard some songs, just because Drake’s been on the road and he’s still doing some recording. It’s just an album of Epic-ness.” (The Source)

Last month, Drake said he was influenced by artists like Nas and Andre 3000 for the project’s completion.

“It’s gonna be bigger, it’s gonna sound happier,” Drake said comparing it to his So Far Gone album. “Yeah, it’s gonna sound bigger, it’s gonna sound victorious because that’s where I am in my life — I really studied Nas to be honest, Nas was like somebody that I used to listen to his raps and not really understand ‘how’ he did it, I always wanted to understand how he painted those pictures and his bar structure and all of that. I went back and really studied Nas, studied Andre 3000 [for this album] and I hope you like it.” (IM Flashy)

Recent reports suggest the project will be arriving in stores around May.

Drake’s LP is a reflection of how the upstart Toronto MC has become hip-hop’s new leading man. “I tried to capture every great moment I’ve had in the last year,” he says. “It’s triumphant.” To wit: He raps about a presumed love affair with Rihanna and his friendship with mentor Lil Wayne on “Fireworks.” Drake mostly eschewed big names in favor of home-town producers (Boi-1da, Noah “40″ Shebib) and a collaboration with New York indie rockers Francis and the Lights. “It’s gonna be interesting,” he says. “I hope it’s pleasing to the ear.” (Rolling Stone)

Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne has reportedly been forbidden from signing autographs while he completes a one-year jail sentence in New York’s Rikers Island.

According to reports, the restriction is an attempt to hide Wayne’s celebrity status.

A rep for the Correction Officer’s Benevolent Association tells us officials issued the no autograph mandate because “Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here.” The rep also tells us Wayne isn’t getting any special treatment while at Rikers — but we’re told the rapper really hasn’t requested anything out of the ordinary. (TMZ)

He was officially sentenced to a year behind bars on a gun possession charge earlier this week.

Lil Wayne has been sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty in a New York City gun case. The Grammy Award-winning rapper was taken away in handcuffs to start serving his term immediately after his sentencing. He’ll serve his sentence in city jails, not a state prison. He could be released in about eight months with good behavior. (CBS News)

The night prior to beginning his sentence, Wayne bid a final farewell to fans via a UStream broadcast.

“Shout out my n—a Justin Bieber,” he said, continuing his public conversation with the teen sensation. Wayne also revealed a new addition to his label of talented artists. “Shout out to my n—a Cory Gunz, about to be the newest member of the Young Money team.” (MOG)

He previously had his sentencing delayed for tooth surgery and due to an electrical accident at the courthouse.

A fire that shut Manhattan’s main criminal courthouse for a second day – delaying a slew of cases, including the sentencing of Lil Wayne – was an electrical accident, officials said Wednesday. Cases from the massive 17-story complex at 100 Centre St. were jammed into the much smaller courthouse across the street, with some arriagnments being shifted to the Midtown Community Court.
The Hollywood Scoop
By: Wendy Wheaton

“Our marriage, their wedding.” It’s lesson number one for any newly engaged couple, and Lucia (America Ferrera) and Marcus (Lance Gross) are no exception. In Fox Searchlight Pictures’ OUR FAMILY WEDDING, they learn the hard way that the path to saying “I do” can be rife with familial strife. When they return from college and too suddenly announce their marriage plans, they soon discover that their fathers – two highly competitive over-the-top egos – can wreak a major amount of havoc on their special day.

With only weeks to plan their wedding, Lucia and Marcus soon discover the true meaning of love and find there is truth to the saying – that when you marry someone, you marry their entire family.

Listen to Wendy Wheaton’s interviews with the stars review here:

Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris has ended his eight-year feud with controversial television host Bill O’Reilly.

According to Luda, he ran into O’Reilly at a recent event.

“The first thing I said to him was, ‘I want to meet the guy who has had so much to say about me, but knows absolutely nothing about me’,” Ludacris said in an interview. “I identified that I wanted to speak to him when I saw his name on the guest list. I looked at what table he was on, and I walked my a** straight to that table. He wasn’t expecting to see me, at all. The look on his face when he saw me approaching… priceless. From there, we came to a common ground. To be honest with you, we came together and did an event for charity – as crazy as it sounds. Perhaps everything happens for a reason. I prayed since the very first moment that Bill said something about me on television that I would be able to meet him in person. It took about seven years for that to happen, but it finally happened. And the joy that came over me, well, it was outstanding.” (Radar Online)

Luda’s issues stem from comments O’Reilly made about him in 2002.

O’Reilly was instrumental in getting Luda dropped from an endorsement deal with Pepsi when he demanded a boycott against the company for hiring someone who “disrespects women, encourages drug use, and encouraged violence.” The host of Fox News’ “O’Reilly Factor” continued to denounce the hip-hop star for years, describing him as “vile” and a “thug.” (Rap-Up)

The host even went as far as to tell Pepsi he would refuse to drink their products.

“I’m calling for all responsible Americans to fight back and punish Pepsi for using a man who degrades women, who encourages substance abuse and does all the things that hurt particularly the poor and our society,” O’Reilly said in a 2002 television broadcast. Then he says, “I’m calling for all Americans to say, hey, Pepsi, I’m not drinking your stuff.” (Smoking Section)

The rapper’s endorsement deal with Pepsi was reportedly terminated due to O’Reilly’s comments.

The key factor for Pepsi in deciding which pop stars are appropriate pop pitchmen and women is now, apparently, ”The O’Reilly Factor.” A day after Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly blasted the soda bottler for using ads featuring Ludacris, Pepsi has yanked the ads, citing consumer complaints over the rapper’s profane and violent lyrics. (Entertainment Weekly)

Producer Swizz Beatz recently opened up about his divorce with R&B singer Mashonda and what underlying issues caused their separation.

Beatz says he was never caught cheating while married to Mashonda.

“I don’t got a wife no more,” Swizz told radio personality DJ Enuff. “I’m 99 percent done, 99 percent. You lucky, you lucky I’m telling you. I’m lucky in a lot of ways, also, with my divorce but it’s like the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. By far. You know what I’m saying? But it was a learning experience. The thing that upset me the most was the approach from the other side, it didn’t have to be like that because it’s false. It’s like false things and having the wrong people around. Pumping yourself thinking you’re gonna get a TV show off of so-called exposing. It’s like clown things and it’s, like, I’m always quiet with this sh*t. I can’t answer, I can’t even feed into because it’s that much foolery to me…The reason why I got my divorce is for real sh*t. I didn’t get busted cheating, it wasn’t none of that. I had to, I got put into a situation where she was making me pick the relationship with my older son over my marriage.” (The Wizards NYC)

According to hip-hop personality Miss Info, the footage was taped a few months ago.

UPDATE: The footage of Enuff and Swizz is from a few months ago. According to one of my legal eagles, Swizz’ divorce has since been finalized. Hopefully this means everyone came to the table and found that middle ground. (Miss Info TV)

Last December, Beatz and Mashonda reunited for their son’s birthday party.

MaShonda and Swizz Beats put their differences aside over the weekend and threw a lavish birthday party for their 3 year old sonKaseem Jr. Kaseem was a sharp little heartbreaker, decked out in a John Galliano Boys Grey Pinstripe Blazer (retail $310) and some Louis Vuitton sneakers. Such a beautiful family! And MaShonda’s glowing. It seems as though she’s found a special someone as well.. (Necole Bitchie)

The singer also informed fans of the short-lived reunion via her Twitter page.

“My baby boy is growing, from a child to a man. I will do all I can in my power to make him Great. What a wonderful,” she wrote Monday (December 21) morning. ” As women we are meant to be strong but as mothers we are built to be INVINCIBLE. There is no circumstance that wi Kasseem Jr. , I know one day u might google us but I just want u to know there was always love. U were always #1. Ok,so moving foward..Ive been in a weird place lately. My heart has been all gushy and soft.LOL. It feels great. Love is in existence! Its nice when God sends us people to speak to. Its better when those people understand ur situation and will allow u to handle them b4 movin foward.I know the world is all in my life,so I will be the 1st 2 let you know the day my D is final. Then Ill be able to righteously move on…” (Mashonda’s Twitter)

Former Grand Hustle associate Alfamega has reportedly released a new diss song called “Green Light” which goes after T.I.

On the track, Alfa makes multiple references to Tip and reflects on his past time with the Grand Hustle leader.

On his new track “Greenlight”, Alfa Mega throws down the gauntlet. He raps, “A lil something to let the “Queen” know the muscle ain’t shook/ If you try to respond, you gone get your crown took.” He continues, “Ni%%A you ain’t hard, your persona is so fraud/ And the day you crossed me proved you ain’t that smart…Ain’t but 3 real ni%%as still left in Pimp Squad…that’s Mac, Dro and Doug because ni##a you a broad…Tip you know what it is and you know what I do, I’m the muscle lil ni%%a, the one who protected you… Shawty Lo almost took yo a** out the game.” (Dime Wars)

Tip severed ties with Alfa last May when documents leaked online which suggested he previously worked as an informant for the DEA.

“Even though all of our artists and employees are asked by us to be honest and open about their past history at no time did Alfa disclose to me or Grand Hustle what has now appeared in the media. He essentially deceived us by failing to fully disclose the truth about his past and there is no place in our organization for dishonest and misleading behavior. As I’ve always said, you must take responsibility for your own actions, we at Grand Hustle do not support or condone blaming others for our own mistakes. I hope and pray to god bless his financial plans but I do not foresee me or my company playing the role of his personal or professional business.” (File Factory)

Alfa later inked a two-page open letter to Tip when the rapper was incarcerated up north.

“On the real, I’m not coming to you as a disgruntled crying a**ed b*tch who’s mad about being let go,” Alfa wrote. “I’m coming to you as a man who is disappointed that he was publicly exiled by a friend. You’ve often said that you’re a man of your words but homie; you are not being true to your words…I rode for you when there was no one else there to ride for you. 24/7, I was on call for you pimp. On many occasions, I sidelined my family choosing to risk my early demise for you. With a little cheddar, you can easily employ dudes to kill for you all day every day. Conversely, try finding someone who will put their life on the line and die for you…I was the first person you called when you got into that altercation in LA with Shaka’s DTP people. Without any questions, I was right there ready to go to war for you…Time after time, I defended your honor because you were my dawg; if they disrespected you, they disrespected me…Once this is published, I’m giving you a week to call me. Should you choose to not call me within that timeframe, I’ll know exactly where we stand. At that point, we’ll separate…Hope you come home soon pimp, keep your head up and let all the bull go. Don’t worry about propaganda, people always gone talk.” (Down South)

After Alfa’s daughter was brutally beaten up in a nightclub owned by
T.I. last December, the rapper addressed the speculation.

“I had a talk with Tip’s uncle Derrick, who co-owns Club Crucial,” Alfa said in an interview. “I was like ‘my daughter got stabbed up there dog and my son got his jaw fractured. He ‘was like huh? I didn’t know that.’ They didn’t know, they people they got into it with didn’t know they were my children. I was told that my children wasn’t in the wrong. The girls and the dudes attacked her and stabbed her and basically my son jumped in cause they were attacking his sister and somebody hit him from the blindside.” (All Hip Hop)

Taking a page out of Michael Jordan’s book when the hoops legend returned from his first retirement, T.I.’s new song title is composed of just two words that say all anyone needs to know: “I’m Back.”

T.I.’s Twitter account posted a message saying T.I. would have a major announcement to make on Monday, March 8. (His fiancée, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, confirmed the Twitter account was not a personal account and that it was set up by the rapper’s label, Atlantic Records.)

On Wednesday, his official Web site, TrapMuzik.com, posted the artwork for T.I.’s new single, “I’m Back,” urging visitors to return next week for a special premiere.

“Next couple days gonna be nice to rap game,” rapper DJ Drama tweeted about the new T.I. single. “Fab 2morro, Drake Friday, Tip Monday. Niiice.”

T.I. recently made his first public appearance since he began his stint in federal prison. The rapper joined Cottle last month for her Alzheimer’s research fundraiser “For the Love of Our Fathers” at Atlanta venue Opera. While Tip is in the midst of a 366-day sentence, in late December he was released to a halfway house to serve out the rest of his term, thus allowing him to move about more freely. And the Atlanta MC has been using his time to work on new music.

Singer Trey Songz told MTV News in January that he visited Tip in the studio. The “Say Aah” star described the material as “some amazing stuff.”

Young Money leader Lil Wayne has finally been sentenced to a year in jail after having his court appearance postponed twice.

The rapper appeared in a New York court when given his sentence Monday (March afternoon.

Lil Wayne has been sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty in a New York City gun case. The Grammy Award-winning rapper was taken away in handcuffs Tuesday to start serving his term immediately after his sentencing. He’ll serve his sentence in city jails, not a state prison. He could be released in about eight months with good behavior. (CBS News)

Additional reports claim he will spend his time in protective custody.

Lil Wayne just got a judge to agree to place him in protective custody while he serves 1 year in jail for a gun conviction. The judge asked Wayne, before sentencing, if he wanted to make a statement but Lil just shook his head no. After he was sentenced, Lil Wayne was cuffed, turned to his fans in the courtroom and bowed his head. Lil Wayne also asked for special medical attention while in the pokey because of his dental problems. Lil Wayne’s mentor, Birdman, was in court to bid his farewell. (TMZ)

Last night, Wayne bid farewell to fans for a final time via a UStream broadcast.

“Shout out my n—a Justin Bieber,” he said, continuing his public conversation with the teen sensation. Wayne also revealed a new addition to his label of talented artists. “Shout out to my n—a Cory Gunz, about to be the newest member of the Young Money team.” (MOG)

Last week, the rapper had his sentencing delayed due to an electrical accident.

Slaughterhouse’s Royce Da 5′9 has denied dissing Drake after making questionable reference to the young rapper at the end of his new “Over” freestyle.

Writing via Twitter, the emcee said he was not going at Drizzy on the record.

Toward the end of his freestyle, Royce stirs speculation after a "fruit" reference.

"Nobody's harder, he don't give a f*ck what he slaughters, bag your sl*tty daughter, throw her in muddy waters, this beat is bank, get it out of me, I can sh*t it out of me, it's ate, I think I owe Drake an apology," Royce raps at the end of the freestyle. "Tweet about that you little f*cking fruit." (Royce Da 5'9's Twitter)

"Yo Benzino," Royce says in a self recorded video. "We ain't got no beef with you because you ain't never did nothing to me.
