If you have been following our twitter or instagram you could have guessed this was coming, but we can finally announce Nas has signed Detroit’s own BOLDY JAMES! CONGRATS FAMILY!
Nasir “Nas” Jones announced Detroit rapper Boldy James as the first signing to his Mass Appeal imprint, MTV reports.
The Queens native invested in and became associate publisher of “Mass Appeal,” founded in 1996 as a graffiti magazine and relaunched in 2013 as a quarterly print and multimedia publication after a five-year hiatus, last April.
After tweeting about Boldy James — cousin of rapper/producer Chuck Inglish (who incidentally alsosigned his own imprint, Sounds Like Fun, to Dave Sitek’s Federal Prism label) — back in January, Nas brought him out for his Mass Appeal showcase at this year’s South by Southwest, where he made a “soft announcement” that James would be joining the label, according to Fake Shore Drive. On Thursday, April 17, Nas made the deal official.
