Maybach Music Group’s Wale is the latest crew member to speak out on nearly losing Rick Ross to a shooting last week and promised what went down was nothing short of an attack on his life.

Wale said people should stop with the jokes and realize a man’s life was nearly taken last week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“I think the whole thing’s been blown up,” Wale said about Ross’ shooting. “I think the media, you know, is perpetuating a lot of things, God forbid something happen to anybody then they’re going to be playing people’s records all day and acting like [they cared]. … It’s a joke to y’all because you see somebody on TV everyday but what if that’s your friend, ’cause that’s my friend. I was talking to him last night about the football game so what y’all think is a joke, that’s somebody’s health. I know his children. You know what I’m saying? God forbid something happens — and I just lost one of my brothers so I don’t even play around with that stuff.” (“Streez Morning Grind”)

Miami hip-hop veteran Uncle Luke penned an open letter to Ricky Rozay earlier this week and asked him to fall back on the gangster raps.

“Dear Rick Ross: As someone who survived several rap beefs, I’m going to give you some advice. You need to seriously address the threats and attempts on your life. You have worked hard to become a big name in hip-hop. You’ve paid your dues and you’ve grown lyrically since the release of your debut album, Port of Miami, in 2006. You’ve arrived, buddy. But all this gangster bullsh*t is jeopardizing your career. No club or arena is going to risk people getting shot. You can forget about doing any tours or CD signings. And if you can’t make money, watch how fast Warner Bros. Records turns on you. I know from experience how venues and the music industry would like to black ball you. You have the Gangster Disciples breathing down your neck because you’ve named-dropped Larry Hoover, the gang’s founder, in your music. Unlike the record and book publishing industries, these bad dudes don’t understand the concept of public domain. They see you getting rich forever by rapping about their leader, and they don’t like it. That’s why they’re on YouTube talking about how you need to go see them and cut a check.” (Miami New Times)

Recently, MMG’s Gunplay spoke out on what went down with his longtime friend.

“He good, he good. Rozay is good, man,” Gunplay said in an interview. “He’s unf*ckwitable, man. It’s the untouchable Maybach, man. You don’t understand. It’s for real, for real, though.” Reports indicated that Ross had hired 24-hour security to protect him following in the incident, but Gunplay says he’s heard nothing of the sort. “Nah, I don’t know about details like that. I know my dog good, though.” (HHDX)

In late January, Ross’ rap foe 50 Cent suggested the shooting may have been staged.

“Nah they shot in the air then he drove into a building”@TauThabiso:@50cent Fif officer Ricky got shot?”,” Fif tweeted January 29th.

“Man they miss the whole f#cking car were they do that at ?SMSaudio”

“ok it was just firecrackers but who ever lit them in trouble cause the man damn near had a heart attack #SMSAudio” (50 Cent’s Twitter)
