Despite a recent bashing by ex-girlfriend Carmen Bryan surrounding his portrayal of their child in the new “Daughters” record, rap veteran Nas recruited 17 year-old Destiny Jones to take part in the track’s music video.
Although the music video’s release date is still unknown, photos from the set have begun circulating online.
Nas was joined by his daughter Destiny on set of the Chris Robinson-directed video for “Daughters” earlier this week. The hip-hop superstar, who also has a son with ex-wife Kelis, reflects on his relationship with his 17-year-old daughter on the powerful single, which will appear on his upcoming album Life Is Good, due July 17. Despite his good intentions, the No I.D.-produced song has struck a sour note with Destiny’s mother, Carmen Bryan. (Rap-Up)
Over the weekend, Destiny sent out a fury of fun tweets alongside Nas.
“Hangin wit dad today…” she tweeted April 29th.
“Used my dads deodorant & Cologne. Now I’m waken round smelling like a grown man”
“Me: I hate wen I spit out the window n the wind blows n it hits me in my face. Dad: ugh Des get out my car. Lmao”
“Now I’m jus somebody yu used too know” (Destiny Jones’ Twitter)
After catching heat over discussing Nas’ “Daughters” record, Bryan recently promised to silence her comments.
Bryan’s condemnation of ‘Daughters’ didn’t sit well with fans of Nas who flooded her page with criticism of her position and requests to clarify her views, but after responding to only a few of the many negative responses her comments received, Bryan noted that she would no longer discuss the track following Destiny’s wishes. “At this time I am going to honor my daughter’s request and not validate the song by commenting on it any further,” Bryan wrote. She previously took to Twitter and aired out her issues with Nasty Nas’ track.
“Just heard “Daughters” by Nas. What a disappointment! He had nothing positive to say about our daughter and his depiction of her is false!,” she allegedly tweeted April 26th. (Carmen Bryan’s Twitter)
