The Black Caucus Foundation of Michigan: Our Mission is to provide non-partisan, public policy development and analysis of social education, and economic issues important to Michigan’s Black Communities; and to implement associated programs and services which enhance the quality of life of children and families.

BCF Programs

Drug Free Youth in Detroit “DFYID”: A prevention program celebrating 20 years of service providing programs that encourage students to sustain a drug free lifestyle. The target student population for the program is 5th through 12th grades.

Life Skills / Power of Choice: The program works to achieve a measurable on behavior, the prevention of using tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs, prevention of drop out, and development of important skills for work.

After School Program: This program provides tutorial, homework assistance and credit recovery to ensure high school completion. Life skills are offered to achieve success in work.

Ambassador’s Club “YDI”: Youth Development Initiative the “Ambassador’s Club” was organized initially in Highland Park Community High School. The Clubs are designed to improve the ability of students and to inspire other students to join which will help develop a peer network committed to academic success, cautious decision making and enhance a drug free lifestyle.

Youth Development Initiative: A program that has been developed to create an Anti-Drunk Driving Campaign. It was adopted last school year and the program expanded into additional Detroit Public Schools and some charter. Students will study the problem; create innovative ways to spread the word through schools, assemblies, public service announcements and Town Hall meetings. The goal of the program is to reduce the number of alcohol related accidents “drunk driving” in the 48228 area code and in the city.
